..::[ The Bitcoin Foundation: STATE OF BITCOIN ADDRESS ]::..

     [ Date: 2015.09.28 ]
     [   Co-Chairs: mod6 [R.01] && ben_vulpes [R.02]    ]

0x00] Introduction

It is with great honor and privilege that The Bitcoin Foundation embraces
this opportunity to address the public on the state of current progress,
obstacles and continuing steps in our mission.

During the month of August, most of The Bitcoin Foundation activity centered
around implementation and testing of `V'.

0x01] Accomplishments

   [ `V' ]:

mod6 worked through the month implementing a version of `V' in perl. The
main reasoning behind this is two-fold: to gain a complete understanding
of the `V' implementation [R.03] by asciilifeform [R.04] and to utilize
Graph::Easy to produce a SVG topological directed graph [R.05] of a
     specified group of vpatches.

mod6's version of `V' is so far unreleased; however most of the coding work
is complete at this time. Related work implementing Cucumber automated
tests surrounding the code is the current main focus. When these are
complete they will provide regression and functional testing to the `V'
     perl tool.

[ Additional `V' work has been completed ]:

ben_vulpes submitted an archive with additional unit tests to
     asciilifeform's version of `V' 99k [R.06].

punkman [R.07] submitted a python version of `V' called 'vit' derived from
     asciilifeform's original implementation [R.08].

   [ Website Update ]:

A minor matter but worth a mention: The Bitcoin Foundation website has been
updated to include the latest patches from candidate TEST2 so the public
can easily find and utilize these patches as needed.

0x02] Complications and Obstacles

0x03] Continuing Steps

   [ `V' Testing ]:

When mod6's implementation of `V' is tested & complete, he will post the
first version of his script (with Kalvin versioning) to the btc-dev mailing
list [R.06]. Any help testing would be appreciated. Also, since there are
automated tests for this purpose, effort required should be minimal.

   [ Documentation ]:

One document, ``Creating, Naming And Submitting A Vpatch'' was able to be
updated this month [R.0A] The remaining documents that need updating will
have to wait until mod6's `V' documentation is complete as it needs to be
     referenceable.

0x04] Conclusion

On-going work to complete mod6's implementation of `V' is a prerequisite to
complete the other outstanding documentation updates. Additionally `V'
will be utilized to disseminate the next release version: v0.5.4.

The Bitcoin Foundation would like to bestow our sincerest thanks and
gratitude to the contributors and community for its support and insight.
